BURLESQUE COSTUMES
First there was the Victorian Burlesque. Shows that were parodies of serious dramatic works. It was light hearted entertainment meant to poke fun at plays such as those of Shakespeare. By adapting music to some of the playwright's words and peppering them with bad puns, the shows were a popular form of entertainment.
American Burlesque was slightly different having "sets" within a show. Often there were political commentaries followed by comedians and then high stepping dancers to add a bit of sex to the evening's entertainment.
It wasn't that unusual to even introduce
some wrestling matches or boxing to the show.
Burlesque Costumes became more and more daring as the world of Burlesque evolved.
Although it is not the mainstay of entertainment that it once was, Burlesque Shows, today, are seen in both mild cabaret-type settings or the more risqué strip clubs.
To that end, Burlesque Costumes conjure up many a fantasy and are a hot item for the party crowds who look seriously to dress the part all in the name of good fun. Check out the hottest Burlesque costume styles and accessories below - they'll certainly give you plenty of inspiration!
